Vanyalin was born and raised in the Whispin Jungle, the youngest child of Galain and An’Thaya Alcarin. Bookish and quiet she kept to herself most of the time until her life was twisted around in Shattered Web.
She met Elandriil at her mother’s wedding to Callan, punching the Silver in the mouth when –during a fight – he bled on her. Aerdon Dragon blood is high in iron and it burned her skin.
Over time, she fell in love with the Silver, reluctantly. She was afraid of love after seeing what it did to her parents and others. Elandriil and Van became lovers, but she couldn’t bring herself to say that she loved him.
The pair formed a light surface bond in Scorched Earthy, just before her Uncle Tallin kidnapped Vanyalin. The torture Tallin put her through released the Crimson Dragon within her genetics and soul. She was rescued by Elandriil, and the pair bonded to keep her soul from shattering. With Mira Badb Catha's help, the two were fused together, bonded completely as An’Thaya and Callan are.
